What She Had
What She Had
It's 4:15.
I'm wide awake,
picturing this scene
while my heart aches.
Suddenly, I'm five
with a cheesy smile
happy to be alive
and no trauma seen for miles.
She's running around;
not running away.
She may fall to the ground
but knows she'll be okay.
She has everything she needs:
a dad, mom, brother, and love.
Today, most of those are tangled in weeds,
and it's painful to speak of.
She haunts me most nights.
I miss what she had.
So, I write,
In hopes of alleviating the bad.
