A Little Getaway

I need a little getaway

Something to amend this pain

I feel like I'm drowning in a bay

Being held down by my overwhelmed brain

I need a little escape

I am a boat in a storm

Fighting against the wave’s shape

As it tries to get me to conform

I need a little getaway

Take me to a place that’s warm

Where I don’t dance on anxiety’s tray

And I’m in my natural form

I need a little getaway

But not to a location

Just where my mind can live in the gray

And my heart feels like it’s on vacation
