Tarnished Gold 

I once was shiny, 

reflecting off light. 

Pretty and tiny, 

you worshipped my bright.

Just like sunshine, 

I lit you up. 

From your bloodline, 

I was your pup. 

Along the way, 

I became old. 

Along came they, 

I'm tarnished gold. 

Dull and rusted, 

you put me aside. 

Broken and busted, 

no longer your pride. 

They're shiny and new 

just how you like it. 

I once was too, 

but you became disgusted.
